Throughout this TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health Care course, students tackle a number of different units that help to understand, manage and work with people that have mental health issues. The course covers policies and framework in mental health as well as duty of care, mental health interventions and support planning. Being a level 3 qualification, students achieve a high level qualification that is nationally recognised.

Course Content

This TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Care course assesses the following units:

Unit 1 – Understand the legal, policy and service framework in mental health

In this unit you will learn about the legislation on mental health in the UK and how to ensure you comply.

Unit 2 – Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

This unit focuses on implementing duty of care within health and social care and with children and young people.

Unit 3 – Understand Mental well-being and mental health promotion

Throughout your role you need to have a strong and clear understanding of types of mental health and well-being, how to promote and effectively influence a person’s mental health and well-being.

Unit 4 – Understand Mental Health Problems

In this unit you will learn about forms of mental ill health and different disorders that can impact mental health, the service user, their family and also yourself.

Unit 5 – Understand Mental Health interventions

It is important for you to treat each person as an individual and assess their needs accordingly and appropriately to ensure they receive the best treatment and support.

Unit 6 – Understand care and support planning and risk management in mental health

Whilst working within the mental health care sector then you need to show your understanding and knowledge of planning service users’ care and support in line with legislation and risk management.

This course can be taken over a 12 month period but you can complete it as fast or as slowly as you wish.

Assessments

To pass this TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health Care course learners must pass 6 assignments.
