Qualification

To gain this NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration qualification you will need to submit, and pass, all of the tutor marked assignments. This NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business Administration course assesses the following units:

Unit 1: Principles of providing administrative services (30 hours)

In this unit of the course we will explore how to organise and provide support for meetings in an organisation. We will also look at the necessary requirements when planning travel and accommodation for those within a business and how to select different diary systems in order to schedule and monitor work roles in a company.

Throughout this part of the course we will explore different office equipment and its uses as well as mail services which can be utilised by organisations. Customer service will also be studied and we will look at how to tailor your approach in order to suit those that you work with.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand the organisation and administration of meetings
  • Understand the organisation of travel and accommodation
  • Understand how to manage diary systems
  • Understand how to use office equipment
  • Understand the use of mail services in a business context
  • Understand customer service in a business environment

Unit 2: Principles of business document production and information management(30 hours)

Knowing how to plan and create various different business documents will ensure that you can communicate with different stakeholders in a convenient and suitable manner. In this part of the course we will explore how to organise and create documents while ensuring that data protection and confidentiality laws are not broken. We will also look at methods of distributing data using appropriate means.

Information in a business should be handled very sensitively and with the utmost care and attention. In this part of the course we will be looking at how data should be stored and accessed by organisations as well as safe ways of distribution and retrieval. We will also look at methods of creating new business documents and how to ensure the right tone and image is conveyed to your audience.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand the distribution of business documents
  • Understand how information is managed in business organisations
  • Understand the essential requirements of business documents

Unit 3: Understand communication in a business environment (10 hours)

In this unit, we will look at communication methods and how you can tailor this to your audience in order to give the correct message that you need. We will investigate ways of doing this and the requirements of communication methods as well as methods to ensure the correct message is given to your audience at all times.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand the requirements of written and verbal business communication

Unit 4: Understand employer organisations (40 hours)

This unit will cover employer organisations and we will look into the characteristics of different organisations that work in a variety of sectors. We will also explore influences that have an effect on organisations and how businesses change in their approach.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand organisational structure
  • Understand the organisational environment

Unit 5: Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues (15 hours)

In this part of the course we will look at methods of successfully working with other people in a job role so that each person is fully supported and helped in their work. Working as a team and complementing each other’s strengths is the best way for a company to work in a manner that ensures success, and here we will look at the reasons for this as well as how to buddy new colleagues.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand how to buddy a colleague

Unit 6: Understand how to provide administrative support for meetings (20 hours)

Meetings are a very important part of any business and should be used effectively in all organisations to discuss matters and ways of approaching issues. In this unit we will look at how you can work to successfully organise meetings and take minutes during these. This can help to run meetings smoothly and make sure that each person contributes so that the business can get the most from this time.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand the administration of meetings
  • Understand how to take minutes of meetings

Unit 7: Understand customer service (20 hours)

Understanding customer service and how to work with clients is incredibly important for anyone working in a business environment. In this unit we will look at why customer service delivery is required and how you can meet the needs of clients in a variety of business environments. We will also look at the branding of companies and how this relates to customer service.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand customer service delivery
  • Understand the relationship between customer service and a brand

This course can be taken over a 12 month period but you can complete it as fast or as slowly as you wish.
