About this GCSE Mathematics Course

This course is designed to teach and prepare you for the Edexcel GCSE Mathematics course specification 1MA1 which teaches students about the Mathematics skills used in everyday life. The course teaches students to develop their range of mathematical skills and develop techniques in order to solve problems in mathematics. Qualification

This course prepare you to sit the Edexcel Mathematics GCSE specification 1MA1 which is assessed by 3 written papers in May/June each year. Module 1 – Numbers

Throughout this first part of the course we will look at number theory and mathematical basics that will be used in the rest of the course.

This module is split down into 4 lessons:

  • Lesson 2: Primes, Factors and Fractions
  • Lesson 3: Decimals, Approximations and Accuracy
  • Lesson 4: Indices

Module 2 – Ratios, interest and measurement

In this second part of the course we will focus on ratios, interest and measurements.

This module is split down into 5 lessons:

  • Lesson 1: Ratios
  • Lesson 2: Interest
  • Lesson 3: Money
  • Lesson 4: Speed, Distance and Time
  • Lesson 5: Graphs

Module 3 – Algebra

Algebra is a huge area of mathematics and involves a number of different aspects.

This module is split down into 4 lessons:

  • Lesson 2: Factorisation
  • Lesson 3: Algebraic Equations
  • Lesson 4: Formulae

Module 4 – Geometry

In this part of the course we will focus on how geometry can be used for a variety of different reasons and how we can use shapes in two and three dimensions to show many different situations.

This module is split down into six lessons:

  • Lesson 1: Angles and Bearings
  • Lesson 2: Symmetry
  • Lesson 3: Quadrilaterals and Polygons
  • Lesson 4: Transformations
  • Lesson 5: Circles and Measuring Shapes

Module 5 – Probability

In this part of the course we will cover many different areas of probability so that you have a great understanding into this vast area of mathematics.

This module is split down into three lessons:

  • Lesson 2: Tree Diagrams
  • Lesson 3: Venn Diagrams

Module 6 – Statistics

In this part of the course we will look at statistics and how to go about gathering and representing data.

This module is split down into four lessons:

  • Lesson 1: Introduction to Statistics
  • Lesson 2: Experiments and Surveys
  • Lesson 3: Tables and Diagrams
  • Lesson 4: Cumulative Frequency

Module 7 – Further Numbers and Equations

In this section of the course we will look further at numbers and indices to improve our understanding of these concepts from earlier modules on this course.

This module is split down into six lessons:

  • Lesson 2: Solving Equations
  • Lesson 3: Formulae and Fractions
  • Lesson 4: Inequalities and Graph Work
  • Lesson 5: Sequences Using Nth Terms

Module 8 – Advanced Geometry and Trigonometry

In this final module on your course we will be looking further into trigonometry and geometry.
