Upon completion of this qualification, students are awarded a CACHE Level 2 Award in Preparation for the Responsibilities of Parenting certificate. All certification fees are included in your course fees. This qualification is suitable for those who are already parents as well as people who are expecting.
Qualification
This is a knowledge only qualification. Experience in the real work environment is not required and the entire course is completed online. Please note that this is a knowledge only Level 2 qualification and does not require any practical assessments. This course requires students to pass 3 tutor marked assignments. The qualification can be taken over a 12 month period but you can complete it as fast or as slowly as you wish.
CACHE Level 2 Preparation for the Responsibilities of Parenting Content
Included in this CACHE Level 2 Award in Preparation for the Responsibilities of Parenting course are the following units:
Unit 1 – Rights and responsibilities in relation to parenting
In this unit, you will learn about what the term ‘welfare’ means in relation to children and what parents’ rights are in relation to the welfare of their children and the upbringing of their children.
- Understand the rights of parents in relation to the welfare and upbringing of own children.
- Understand parental responsibilities in relation to own children.
- Know the responsibilities of parents in relation to providing an environment where a child or children can thrive.
Unit 2 – Parenting and healthy lifestyles
Within this unit, you will learn about what constitutes a healthy lifestyle for the parent(s) or primary carer(s) and their children and what the benefits of regular exercise are for both the health of the family and the children’s growth and development.
- Understand the importance of family lifestyles which support a child’s or children’s development.
- Understand the responsibilities of parents with regard to smoking and the health of the family.
- Understand how alcohol and illegal use of drugs affect a healthy lifestyle of the user and the family.
- Know about sexual health in relation to a healthy lifestyle.
Unit 3 – Parenting a young baby
In this unit, you will learn about the responsibilities of the parent(s) for a young baby in relation to the environment where the baby is cared for and the responsibilities of the parent(s) for a young baby in relation to the welfare of the baby.
- Understand the responsibilities of parent(s) when caring for a young baby.
- Know how to access support which may be required as parent(s) of a young baby.
- Know how to recognise and respond to a young baby who is unwell.
- Know how to provide safe stimulating activities for a young baby.
