About this Course

Our Dog Training Level 3 course is perfect for anyone already working with dogs or those that wish to do so. The course is split into 6 units covering learning practice, dog behaviours, puppy training and strategies. Starting your own dog training business and the role of a dog behaviourist is also covered. Perfect for people with a love of dogs or existing dog walkers, veterinary nurses or dog daycare staff, this course will give a well-rounded knowledge of how to ensure dogs are trained to a high level.

Certification

To complete this Dog Training Level 3 course you will need to submit, and pass, all of the tutor marked assignments. There are six assignments in the course and no need to purchase any textbooks as we provide all of the lessons and materials required to learn the syllabus. All assignments are coursework based and are in an essay/question and answer style to test your knowledge of the topics covered in each of the course sections.

Course Content

This course assesses the following units:

Unit 1 – Introduction to Dog Training

This unit gives learners the skills and knowledge they need to work in or pursue a career in dog training. It is the perfect introduction to various jobs in the dog behaviour, training and welfare sector.

Unit 2 – Learning theories and practice

This unit will help you understand the theory behind dog training and give you the knowledge and skills you need to teach groups of people how to train their dogs in a safe and effective way.

Unit 3 – Dog behaviours

In this unit, you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and treat common dog behavioural issues. You will also learn about functional analysis and how it is used in training and behaviour management.

Unit 4 – Basics of puppy training

The material in this unit will provide you with a thorough understanding of how a puppy’s first few months of life impact it, how the environment may shape it into a dog that acts in a helpful or undesirable manner, and puppy growth stages, and approximately when these fall.

Unit 5 – Dog training strategies

Through the course of this unit, you will get a greater understanding of the different approaches to dog training and the modification of dog behaviour, as well as an awareness of how these approaches came to be widely used and how they influence the dog.

Unit 6 – Starting your own business

In this unit, we will explore the different types of training businesses which you could look into and how you can attract new clients to your company. As well as this, we will look at specific financial requirements and taxes that you must abide by.

This course can be taken over a 12 month period but you can complete it as fast or as slowly as you wish.

Assessments

To pass this course learners must pass 6 assignments. These are completed after navigating through the corresponding lessons and writing your answers to assignment questions.
