This course is designed for those seeking to begin a career in social care or existing carers who wish to achieve a formal qualification in the care sector. Through this qualification you will learn the basic concepts of social care work and help to prepare for a career working with vulnerable people. Being a knowledge only qualification, students are able to study this course online to fit in around home life.

Upon completion of this qualification, students are awarded a Cache Level 2 certificate and an OLC Certificate. All certification fees are included in your course fees.

Qualification

To gain the full CACHE Level 2 Certificate in in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care you will need to submit, and pass, all of the tutor marked assignments.  There are nine assignments in the course and no need to purchase any textbooks as we provide all of the lessons and materials required to learn the syllabus. There is no formal exam and the certification fee is included in the course fees.

Unit 1: Principles of Communication in Adult Social Care

The unit introduces the importance of communication in adult social care settings, and ways to overcome barriers to meet individual needs and preferences in communication.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand how to meet the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of an individual
  • Understand how to reduce barriers to communication
  • Understand confidentiality in adult social care settings

Unit 2: Principles of Personal Development in Adult Social Care Settings

The unit introduces the concepts of personal development and reflective practice, which are fundamental to adult social care roles.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand what is required for good practice in adult social care roles
  • Understand how learning activities can develop knowledge, skills and understanding
  • Know how a personal development plan can contribute to own learning and development

Unit 3: Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

This unit introduces the concept of inclusion, which is fundamental to working in adult social care settings.

This unit will teach you to:

  • Understand the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion
  • Know how to work in an inclusive way
  • Know how to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality inclusion and discrimination

Unit 4: Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care

This unit introduces the important area of safeguarding individuals from abuse. It identifies different types of abuse and the signs and symptoms that might indicate abuse is occurring. It considers when individuals might be particularly vulnerable to abuse and what a learner must do if abuse is suspected or alleged.

This course can be taken over a 12 month period but you can complete it as fast or as slowly as you wish.
